This animation serves as an homage to my mother, exploring the grief shared between mothers and daughters and the emotional "inheritance" passed down as daughters transition into adulthood. Stylized flowers, inspired by my mother’s botanical paintings, appear as a recurring motif throughout the piece — a visual language that reflects her lasting influence on my artistic practice and creative identity.

Digitally created using Procreate and Procreate Dreams, the animation places a strong emphasis on rotoscoping techniques to blend realism with expressive illustration. Themes of identity, human-nature integration, and the process of grief are woven throughout the narrative, using hand-drawn frames to create a sense of intimacy and reflection. Rotoscoping, in particular, offers a realistic dimension to the work, serving as a bridge between the tangible and the fantastical. This balance between illustrative and representational styles brings a compelling duality to the animation, resulting in a dynamic, emotionally resonant final piece.
